World class, well curated collection. I loved the regular references to other important works of art and inspirations, it really helped place the works on display into context. I visited during the European Night of Museums and braced myself for the crowds, but for some mysterious reason the place was almost deserted.

A wonderful gallery with a really impressive collection. What struck us just as much as the art itself was the building the architecture and interior are beautiful in their own right and make the whole visit feel special even before you've taken in a single painting. The layout flows really well and the art is displayed thoughtfully and with real care, making it easy and enjoyable to move through at your own pace without ever feeling lost or overwhelmed. For students or anyone under 25, it's an absolute no-brainer the entry price is very affordable at 2 euro, making it one of the best value cultural experiences you can have in Bologna. A brilliant art gallery, I was lucky enough to catch the Albrecht Dürer woodworking expo. I paid 2 euros (youth ticket) to enter. There's a couple of floors and countless rooms. It's not necessary to get tickets beforehand but go with enough time to be able to wander around.
